25 Years at TMB: A Reflection from Managing Director, Tony Burton

Twenty-five years with TMB has provided countless experiences, invaluable lessons and the privilege of being part of an extraordinary journey.

The technology landscape has evolved beyond recognition during that time. However, the importance of exceptional people, outstanding service and being there when customers need you most has remained unchanged.

This year marks 25 years since I joined TMB, and it has given me an opportunity to reflect on how much has changed. Not only within our business, but across the wider technology and hospitality industries. When I joined, cloud computing was not part of everyday business conversations, cybersecurity was rarely discussed at board level, smartphones did not exist, and AI was something we’d only read about. Today, technology sits at the heart of hotel operations, guest experiences and business resilience.

Technology has evolved at an incredible pace, but the fundamentals of delivering great service haven’t. Understanding a customer’s environment, responding quickly when they need support, and consistently delivering quality outcomes are principles that have stood the test of time, and they continue to underpin everything we do at TMB.

Over the last 25 years, we’ve grown into a specialist technology partner for the hospitality industry, supporting more than 650 hotel customers across 56 countries. We’ve expanded our services, strengthened our cybersecurity capabilities, and helped hotels navigate everything from digital transformation to major operational change. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, success isn’t really about technology – it’s about people. I would like to thank the incredible team at TMB, both past and present. Every achievement, every challenge overcome and every milestone reached has been the result of talented, dedicated people who genuinely care about delivering great outcomes for our customers.

What makes TMB special isn’t just our technical expertise; it’s the commitment our team shows every day. Whether supporting customers in the middle of the night, delivering complex projects, protecting hotel environments from cyber threats or helping customers embrace new technologies, our people consistently go above and beyond.

I’m also incredibly grateful to our customers and partners for the trust they’ve placed in us over the years. Many relationships span decades, and it’s been a privilege to support their businesses through growth, change and innovation. I feel fortunate to have worked alongside so many talented people throughout my career and would like to thank every member of the TMB team for their contribution to our journey and success.

Twenty-five years ago, I joined TMB. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of being part of a business that has grown, adapted and evolved alongside the industries we support. Technology will continue to change, and developments such as AI will undoubtedly have a significant impact on our industry. However, I believe the things that have always mattered will continue to matter most – delivering quality service, responding when customers need us, building trust and having great people behind the business.

I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together over the past 25 years and grateful to everyone who has contributed to that success. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for TMB, our customers and our team.
