Case Study

The Sloane Club in Lower Sloane Street , Mayfair, London offers exclusive accommodation to its members, their guests and worldwide affiliated clubs. The accommodation consists of the main building at 52 Lower Sloane Street but also a number of additional flats for longer stay members at 4, 11, 50 Lower Sloane Street and 19 Sloane Gardens.

The challenge facing the Sloane club was to provide ubiquitous telephony and internet service to both the main club and the flats although no physical link exists between the buildings.
On the recommendation of Telecom Eye, who provide the call accounting system to the Sloane Club, TMB Systems were engaged to find a technical solution to meet these twin requirements.

Graeme Gilmour TMB Systems head of operations commented “ Once we realised that a physical link was not going to be possible due to planning constraints, we turned to a tailored “home worker” SIP based broadband solution for the flats to provide both voice and internet connectivity.”
“Each flat has an analogue phone provided via an analogue terminal adapter connected to a building broadband router via SIP. These phones then appears as extensions on the main Mitel 3300 telephone system so can be contacted internally and externally as well as make outbound calls that can be captured on the Telecom Eye call accounting system.
The managed internet connection is currently provided by a hardwire connectivity to the building broadband router
but we are evaluating updating this to also provide Wifi connectivity for Wifi only devices such as Apple iPads”.
David Selfe, Finance Manager at The Sloane Club comments “ We wanted to upgrade our main telephone system and also expand connectivity to the flats to enhance our guest communications and ensure we offer five star
service at a four star price to all our members irrespective of location.
TMB Systems solution using the Mitel 3300 has been able to meet this requirement and we are actively working together to provide Wifi service to the flats”.
